21. Look Who's Back
Returning to the Road: My Running Journey Resumes on the Way to Berlin π©πͺ
After a long hiatus from sharing my running adventures, I am back! The first half of this year has been a whirlwind of challenges and growth. Balancing the demands of parenting a lively 1-year-old and managing a demanding job left me feeling drained and in need of simplification. I decided to take a break from a few bits including my ramblings, but I never stopped running.
Despite the silence, my commitment to running remained steadfast. I consistently logged a solid 100 kilometers per week, sometimes even more. To maintain my fitness and avoid injuries, I incorporated a lot of indoor cycling. For the first time in four years, I managed to get through the winter injury-free. My secret? A conservative approach to running in the cold, which often meant not running outside at all! π
Now, with just 10 weeks to go until the Berlin Marathon and after a tough yet honest conversation with wifey, Iβm ready to re-engage. This blog will serve as my accountability partner as I push through the next couple of months in preparation for race day.
Will I fall off track? Will I face setbacks? These questions linger, especially with the dynamic of working with Coach Matthew (and his sleep patterns) while juggling frequent work travel. But amidst these uncertainties, there's a story waiting to unfold. A story of perseverance, resilience, and determination (yeah!). One where, hopefully, I complete my second marathon major.
Join me on this journey as I navigate the highs and lows, the challenges and triumphs. Itβs not just about crossing the finish line in Berlin; it's about embracing the process, sharing the experience, and hopefully inspiring a few along the way. Hereβs to the next 10 weeks of training, storytelling, and striving towards that finish line. Stay tuned!
Great to see you are back Francesco. Congrats on being a dad π»π
