This week, I clocked in 115 kilometers of solid running, marking another step forward on the road to the Berlin Marathon. Here's how the week shaped up:
- Monday: 15km
- Wednesday: 30km
- Thursday: 15km
- Friday: 15km
- Saturday: 20km
- Sunday: 20km
Overall, it was a good week of consistent training, with each run contributing to building endurance and mental toughness. The highlight was undoubtedly the 30km run on Wednesday, which I completed in the beautiful surroundings of Hyde Park in London. There's something invigorating about running in such locationβlooping around the park, with its mix of greenery and urban energy, was a welcome change of scenery and a mental boost. Hyde Park has always been one of my favorite places to run when I'm in the city, and this time was no different. The familiar paths and the rhythmic nature of looping around allowed me to settle into a comfortable pace and simply enjoy the miles as they added up. Legs felt find throughout, a great confidence boost.
However, the week wasnβt without its challenges. By the time Friday rolled around, general tiredness had started to set in, no doubt compounded by the work travel earlier in the week. Jetting between meetings and navigating airports always takes a toll, and this time was no exception. Despite feeling fatigued, I still managed to get out the door each day, keeping the momentum going.
The weekend brought another hurdle: the heat. Running in high temperatures always adds an extra layer of difficulty, and this weekend was particularly challenging. But I pushed through, focusing on hydration and pacing myself carefully thanks also to wifey that provided her support on the bike. The 20km runs on both Saturday and Sunday were tough, but finishing them felt like a significant accomplishment given the conditions.
Despite the fatigue and the heat, Iβm pleased with how the week turned out. Each run, even the tougher ones, is another step closer to race day. The consistency is paying off, and I can feel my endurance continuing to improve (lower HR at similar pace). The 30km run in Hyde Park, in particular, gave me a boostβit reminded me of why Iβm committed to this journey.
As I look ahead to the next week, Iβm planning to keep building on this foundation while being mindful of recovery. With Berlin drawing closer, every run counts, and itβs all about finding the right balance between pushing the limits and allowing my body to recover.
Stay tuned for more updates as the journey to Berlin continues!
